Cholecystitis

Is inflammation of the gallbladder. Your gallbladder is a small, pear-shaped organ on the right side of your abdomen, beneath your liver. The gallbladder holds a digestive fluid that's released into your small intestine (bile).

Symptoms:

  • Severe abdominal pains that may feel sharp or dull
  • Abdominal cramping and bloating
  • Pain that spreads to your back or below your right shoulder blade
  • Fever
  • Chills
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Loose, light-colored stools
  • Jaundice, which is when your skin and the whites of your eyes turn yellow
  • Itching
