Is a condition that occurs when fluid builds up in the skull and causes the brain to swell. The name means “water on the brain.” Brain damage can occur as a result of the fluid buildup. This can lead to developmental, physical, and intellectual impairments. It requires treatment to prevent serious complications. The signs and symptoms of hydrocephalus vary generally by age of onset.
Symptoms:
Infants
Changes in the head
An unusually large head
A rapid increase in the size of the head
A bulging or tense soft spot (fontanel) on the top of the head

Eyes fixed downward (sunsetting of the eyes)
