Burns

Are one of the most common household injuries, especially among children. The term “burn” means more than the burning sensation associated with this injury. Burns are characterized by severe skin damage that causes the affected skin cells to die.

Symptoms:

  • Blisters
  • Pain (The degree of pain is not related to the severity of the burn, as the most serious burns can be painless.)
  • Peeling skin
  • Red skin
  • Shock (Symptoms of shock may include pale and clammy skin, weakness, bluish lips and fingernails, and a drop in alertness.)
  • Swelling
  • White or charred skin
